Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 1,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in the latest Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Express Entry draw held on August 18, 2026.
Candidates required a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 523 or higher to receive an invitation in this draw.
What Does This Express Entry Draw Mean for CEC Candidates?
The Canadian Experience Class is one of the primary immigration programs managed through Canada’s Express Entry system. It is designed for eligible skilled workers who have gained qualifying Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents of Canada.
For candidates currently in the Express Entry pool, a CRS score of 523 was the threshold for receiving an Invitation to Apply in the August 18 draw.
If your current CRS score is below this level, it does not necessarily mean that permanent residence is out of reach. Express Entry scores and invitation thresholds can change from one draw to another, and there may be opportunities to improve your CRS score or explore other Canadian immigration pathways.
Can You Improve Your CRS Score?
Depending on your circumstances, there may be several factors that could potentially affect your CRS score, including:
- Language test results
- Canadian and foreign work experience
- Education and credential assessments
- Spousal or partner qualifications
- Additional education or work experience
- Provincial Nominee Program opportunities
- Other factors recognized within the Express Entry system
Every immigration profile is different. Understanding which options may apply to you requires a careful review of your personal circumstances, immigration history, work experience and long-term goals.
What Should You Do If You Did Not Receive an Invitation?
If you are currently in the Express Entry pool and did not receive an ITA in this draw, it may be a good time to review your profile and determine whether there are opportunities to strengthen your CRS score.
You may also want to determine whether Express Entry remains the most appropriate pathway for you or whether another permanent residence program could provide an alternative route.
