Today’s topic:
- Canadian Government Removing Covid Border and Travel Measures – Effective October 1, 2022
On September 26, 2022, the Canadian Government announced though the Ministry of Public Safety, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Transport all Covid-19 entry to Canada restrictions including related testing, quarantine and isolation will be eliminated for anyone entering Canada, effective October 1, 2022.
This means starting on October 1, 2022, everyone entering Canada, regardless of citizenship will no longer need to submit public health information and proof of vaccination to the ArriveCAN app, undergo pre-arrival or on-arrival testing, submit to Covid-19 quarantine/isolation or monitor and report should they develop Covid-19 symptoms upon arriving in Canada. Further, as of October 1, 2022, health checks for travel on air and rail will no longer be required and travellers will not need to wear masks on planes and trains. Despite the lifting of mask requirement, wearing of masks remains strongly recommended.
As per the Public Health Agency of Canada News Release:
“Cruise measures are also being lifted, and travellers will no longer be required to have pre-board tests, be vaccinated,
or use ArriveCAN. A set of guidelines will remain to protect passengers and crew, which will align with the approach used
in the United States.”
Of course, despite the above changes, anyone seeking to enter Canada must continue to meet all the requirements of the laws and regulations that govern entry to Canada as per the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
